Early in my teaching career, a young girl was placed in my class, who was repeating first grade. She seemed withdrawn and afraid, and over the course of the school year I felt I had been unsuccessful with including her in the class.
One Friday, a close friend of this girl showed up at school very upset. I learned that on the evening before, this girl had inadvertently been struck in the eye with a pencil. She was now in the hospital with her mother, a medical nurse, at her bedside.
I had recently taken Christian Science Primary class instruction, and had been awakened to the power of the Christ to bring healing to any situation. I had seen remarkable instances of healing, which to me proved God’s government of the entire universe.
