Balance and stability regained

From The Christian Science Journal - March 1, 2013

First appeared in the March 2013 issue of The Herald of Christian Science. Originally written in German.

This healing was first described in the article “My unbroken link” in the Christian Science Sentinel of August 17, 2009, and in the January 2010 issue of the Portuguese Herald.

After an especially intense semester as a university professor, I realized that something in my body was wrong. A constant feeling of weakness and dizziness caused me to slow down and move gingerly. At first I paid attention to this situation only casually, and prayed about it halfheartedly. As a result, the condition worsened over several weeks. It culminated with me collapsing in our hallway after a walk.

My husband knew my desire for Christian Science treatment. He is a Christian Science practitioner and immediately prayed for me. He was constantly at my side and read to me hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal and other Christian Science literature.

During the following two weeks,  most of the time I was either unconscious or asleep. I wasn’t able to eat, but only able to drink a little water each day. During the times of unconsciousness, I saw myself either sitting in a completely dark room or tumbling through endless swirls, in which past events and faces kept appearing. I also heard my husband’s voice as he read to me and encouraged me.
