Never alone

From The Christian Science Journal - May 1, 2013

First appeared in the May 2013 issue of The Herald of Christian Science. Originally written in Spanish.

When I was a junior in college, I opened an advertising agency with two friends. Soon I realized that it was quite difficult to do both my studies and the ad agency. One week I had to accomplish so much that the situation became a huge burden.

I was quite worried, until I realized I could pray about this. Almost immediately a phrase from the Bible came to my mind: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10). This idea helped me see that I wasn’t alone. Being still didn’t mean that I had to sit and do nothing. I just needed to trust that God would guide me to do everything with wisdom; that divine Love is a power that can solve everything, and it is right at hand and can be proved to be so.

Whenever the temptation to worry crept in, I remembered that Bible passage. I felt strengthened by the certainty that everything was under God’s control. As a consequence, something great happened. All things began to shape up and by the end of that week I had met all my obligations without any effort on my part to control any outcomes, and all went well.
