The real picture

From The Christian Science Journal - March 18, 2013

“Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world,” Jesus declares in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25, verse 34. What a joyous proclamation! It shows us a prosperous view of the world as the kingdom of God, and man as entitled to the keys to this kingdom.

That’s quite a different picture from the depressing one so often presented in the news these days. Logic tells us both of these pictures can’t be true. So, which one is real?

Christ Jesus shows us in his answer to the Pharisees, who demanded to know when the kingdom of God would come. He said, “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:20, 21).
