God is always in the majority

From The Christian Science Journal - April 7, 2014

Have you ever felt outnumbered and overwhelmed by a majority who seemed to hold all the power, and that it made no difference if you thought differently? That it was pointless to think and act for yourself, or useless to believe in anything that was contrary to the will of the majority? If you practice Christian Science healing, for instance, do you feel that your individual choice of healing is in conflict with the majority choosing other forms of healing?

If we look at the Bible, we find that actually, all “power belongeth unto God” (Psalms 62:11). To believe this is not naive, silly, or unrealistic, even in today’s world, where, it seems to me, the majority of people adopt a more materialistic way of thinking.

The majority is simply that which is greater in part or number. So, we can always know that, in fact, God is greater than all else. Since God is all, and everywhere, God’s presence precludes the possibility of an opposing power or influence. That which may seem to oppose God is never an actual power, let alone in the “majority,” even if it claims to be and wants us to admit it. Therefore, we are neither arrogant nor delusional to have faith in the idea that God, Spirit, has all power and is the only power.
