Trusting God—moment by moment

From The Christian Science Journal - February 19, 2014

The Bible says, “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12, English Standard Version). A Christian Science teacher once explained to me that the Word of God is also the law of God, harmonizing human experience and shaping our thoughts moment by moment.

I’ve had many experiences through the years that have demonstrated to me that God is constantly communicating His Word to us through His angels, which Mary Baker Eddy describes as “God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 581).

But hearing these angels requires something on our part, and that is to listen sincerely for these ever-present, all-loving spiritual intuitions that guide and protect, and know what is important for our happiness, welfare, and fulfillment. These angels show us over and over again that God is our very best friend, and with us always, gently saying in infinite ways, “I love you.”
