Prayer in Church

From the April 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear Father-Mother God, so near
To bless us in this sacred hour,
With gratitude for Truth most dear
Our hearts rejoice in Love's all-power.
Through open floodgates we would know
The rich, full measure of Thy grace
That, as we part, Love's overflow
Might spread to every darkened place
Where fear, and pain, and muddled creeds
Are causing hearts which shrink in doubt,
Yet strive to meet the world's great needs,
To shut Thy healing message out.
Here, we who feel Thy presence claim
For them the understanding balm
Which stills all fear, perfects each aim
To know aright Truth's active calm.
We thank Thee that we here may know
The hallowed way that we have trod
Leads out through Love's bright afterglow
To paths where all may walk with God.
