"Every good gift"

From the December 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Can you imagine leaving a single gift box unopened under the tree on Christmas Day? Foolish as this may seem, many of us, not understanding the nature of God, leave His precious gifts unopened every day of the year! What is the nature of these gifts and how do we open them?

Everything really worth having has its source in God, divine Love. The Bible reveals this. James tells us, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17;

Because God is infinite, unchanging good, without beginning or end, as Christian Science affirms, our progress in knowing Him continues to unfold in unending glory; each step reveals new evidence of His love. He gives impartially, universally, continually, and eternally. It would be contrary to God's nature to withhold any good from His beloved children.
