IN PLACE OF HURRY

From the April 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Psalmist said the lines had fallen to him in pleasant places.
It is indeed pleasant to walk obediently with Spirit
To feel the gentle government of Soul's guidance;
The only decisions being to turn to Him
And listen. And then, of course, act on what you hear.

It's not all that easy sometimes, as the world spins faster.
And one can't stop it and get off, even if one wanted.
But get hold of the thought obedient and be it.
Get hold of the thought quietude and feel it.
Get hold of the thought government and yield to it.
Then you will find yourself—not running to keep where you are,
But walking with sweet expectancy in pleasant places,
And having—yes, even in this day and age—
a goodly heritage.
