Poems

Be with me, Father

From the February 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

And every man that hath this hope in him
purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

(I John 3:3.)

I need Your light to guide me on my way
Through visions stark to Life's immortal day,
Where, purged of much unkind and callous thought,
I'll know all men as brothers, dearly sought.

Help me to heed Your prodding every hour,
That I may use, with joy, Mind's precious power
To overcome all dark and dreary dreams,
Till bright before me Truth's perfection gleams.

Give me true courage, give me inner strength
To stamp down evil thoughts till I, at length,
Conscious that my fight is truly won,
Will find myself Your pure and loving son.
