Editors' Round Table

From the May 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Are you in favor of the Christian Science practice? Of course! We all are. Well, perhaps we need to make sure we value treatment by Christian Science practitioners as much afterward as when we're receiving it!

Occasionally, people may seem to have a "gratitude lapse" along about the time it comes to pay the practitioner. They may "forget." Or they may delay payment for a long time. Sometimes they may put other bills, or even other pleasures, ahead of paying for Christian Science treatment.

To do so says something about our lack of commitment to the Cause of Christian Science. It is self-defeating in the long run not to support as strongly as we possibly can the Christian Science practice. This system was established by Mary Baker Eddy to stand independently, without church or government subsidy. It assists us all in availing ourselves of solely spiritual means for healing. If we want practitioners to be there when we need them, it's right to pay freely what we owe.
