Writing with "wisdom, economy, and brotherly love"

From the April 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have you ever felt your heart sink when you received a rejection letter for an article you had submitted? Some of us have. If we want to write for the Christian Science periodicals and yet have struggled with revisions or rejections, perhaps it would be good to consider some spiritual helps for writing.

For instance, the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy is a superb guide for action, and some of the points it makes in other contexts can be useful to consider before one submits articles for possible publication. "God requires wisdom, economy, and brotherly love to characterize all the proceedings of the members of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist," Manual, Art. XXIV, Sect. 5. the Manual states. Surely we do not misconstrue the meaning of this By-Law if we use it as a standard for checking the piece we have written.

What about writing with wisdom?
