Testimonies of Healing

Injured foot quickly healed

From the February 2014 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I would like to express gratitude for a healing that occurred a few months ago. I was moving some items and dropped a heavy vacuum cleaner on one of my bare feet. As I cleaned and bandaged the area, I realized my foot was beginning to bruise from the impact and I could not move one of my toes. There was also pain.

I’ve learned from my study of Christian Science that it’s important to watch our thoughts because disease and inharmony are simply objective states of mortal thought. And I quickly recognized that I had not been thinking right thoughts. In fact, I was ruminating over a situation that was disturbing to me, and just a few minutes before this incident I’d sent an e-mail to the individuals involved. I quickly realized that even though I felt the e-mail needed to be sent, I should have been more loving, more gentle in my approach. And I immediately affirmed divine Love’s presence, power, and action, where there had appeared to be condemnation and judgment on my part.

In First John it says: “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him” (4:16) and also, “If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us” (4:12).

Shortly after, I had to go to school to pick up my granddaughter, and, as I put on my shoes, I rejected the thought that I would not be able to. I stood firm in the knowledge that all things are possible with God and that only what Love causes can take place. I affirmed that every individual, including all those involved in the situation, are expressions of divine Love, and therefore cannot feel a sense of condemnation or frustration, or be mistaken.
