Divine Love’s law of supply

From the August 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The need for right supply is such an important issue because it relates to every facet of human experience, both on an individual and a global level. Supply needs to be demonstrated in terms of having enough food and clean water for a growing population, enough financial resources for individuals and municipalities, jobs for people to earn a decent living, affordable housing for all, and even spiritual inspiration to draw on so that we can find healing in difficulties that may arise and live a meaningful and purpose-filled life.

The Bible’s message that “God shall supply all your need according to his riches” (Philippians 4:19) is echoed by Mary Baker Eddy in a statement in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need” (p. 494). Just how does divine Love accomplish this with such certainty? It is through an established divine law, Love’s law of supply.

Divine Love’s supply is law because Love, God, is inexhaustible and available to all, a fully sufficient supply for every need. God’s love can never be depleted; it is there for each one of Her children, and everyone is living under Love’s government. As God is infinite Love, and man is the spiritual image of Love, then man reflects the unlimited love of God, including having an unlimited supply of spiritual ideas from God. This is the nature of Love: to have and to give a constant supply of goodness.
