A career rich with blessings

- Christian Science Nurse Notes

In the summer of 2003, I was privileged to have my name listed in The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science nurse. When I look back on the journey that brought me into Christian Science, it seems like a moment in time, but that “moment” was filled with human events that led to much spiritual growth.

Just a few years earlier I had gone through a difficult divorce, which I maneuvered through as gracefully as I was able while focusing on loving and supporting my children as they struggled with the breakup of their parents’ marriage.

During this period I was also facing very challenging political, legal, and personnel issues that I was expected to work out as the nurse manager of a 16-bed drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. And because of the severe shortage of registered medical nurses at the time, as a registered nurse (RN) myself I was working those shifts for which we had no nursing staff. My work weeks were often 60 hours or more.
