Fear retreats—and so do the waters

- Practice, Practice, Practice

The first verse of Psalm 24 says: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof;  the world, and they that dwell therein.” I have seen the power of this psalm bring immediate healing in my life—so it came immediately to thought as we were faced with a flood in our new house a few months ago.

We were in the middle of having perimeter drains installed, and so the foundation was exposed. It began raining heavily one weekend, and when my husband went down to the basement, he discovered water pouring in. My son was with him, and they both began working to bail and pump out the water. They contacted the company doing the work, and though someone arrived, they weren’t able to offer much help. After a couple of hours my husband and son were feeling exhausted and knew they couldn’t keep up much longer with the volume of water pouring in.

I had been caring for my young grandson upstairs, and since he’d just fallen asleep, it allowed me to be quiet and pray. I began by affirming that we were indeed living in God as ideas in His universe—the infinite, spiritual expression of God, Spirit—where there are no extreme conditions, nothing out of His control.
