Wings of protection

- Practice, Practice, Practice

I have a dogwood tree in my backyard, which is quite beautiful and lush with foliage in the springtime. One day I noticed a very busy robin making frequent trips to the tree, so I decided to investigate. Upon closer observation, I found a nest in the tree with two young birds.

I carefully watched the parent bird making numerous trips to the nest all day, every time bringing food for the babes. With each trip to the nest I could see the young birds patiently awaiting the arrival of mealtime. In the small birds, I saw a perfect example of expectancy and total trust; they never doubted that their need would be met. And in the adult bird, I saw total compassionate care associated with a parent’s love.

Later that afternoon there was a forecast of turbulent weather with the possibility of wind and heavy rain, as well as thunder and lightning. As the day progressed a storm did indeed begin to move through my area with great force. When a severe weather alert was issued by The Weather Channel, I started praying to know that God was caring for me, and also for the entire community and everything therein.
