THERE IS NO DEATH

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? — 1 Cor. 15: 55.

EASTER CAROL

Wake and sing! wake and sing! When the day is entering Thro' the open gates of dawn, And the dreary dark is gone! Hail, ye waves of living light Rolling off the clouds of night! Easter morning brightly breaks, Earth in dewy splendor wakes. Thankful sing! thankful sing! Choicest blossoms of the spring Weave in crowns and garlands rare,— Let their incense fill the air.

HEAVENLY SORROW

I am a weary, Mother God, I pray thee take me to thy rest. The call of Fame, the pride of place, The sheen of pageants round about, Are but the unsubstantial dream Of earth's environments.

LIGHT

There is Light above the solar, Though unseen to mortal view, Yet when a secret glimpse is gained, We are conscious it is true. We feel 'tis true, for the Father When His offspring ask for bread Will never mock their trustfulness, Giving them a stone instead.

DIVINE SCIENCE

What is it fills our hearts with joy, The purest joy without alloy, And keeps life free from all annoy? Christian Science. What is it breathing heavenly peace, Bids mortal strivings all to cease, And from pain brings us sweet release? Christian Science.

THE BRIGHT AND THE MORNING STAR

"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

TO ONE I LOVE

Sealed unto God— Thy pure desire To know and live in holier Power; And naught can mar the peace and bliss Of its own Heaven-horn righteousness. Sealed unto God, Thy effort True, To bless mankind and ill subdue.

I look to thee in every need,...

I look to thee in every need, And never look in vain; I feel thy touch, Eternal Love! And all is well again. The thought of thee is mightier far Than sin and pain and sorrow are.

NEVER WAS

THERE was never a rose, in its true light seen, That faded and perished; was ne'er a green Of spring-time that died to a winter's gray, Nor a night that fell on eternal day. There was never a shadow but seemed to be, There was never a lapse from reality; And Man, as he is, never discord knew, Never sorrowed nor suffered,— since Truth is true.

IN THE SILENCE

LET the waves of sound roll by! Quiet earth's tumultuous measures. In the silence, God draws nigh, And would give thee of His treasures.
