Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction; and many there be which go in thereat; because strait is the gate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto Life, and few there be that find it. MATTHEW vii. 13, 14.
This text is probably quoted as much as any of the words of Jesus, because it is referred to by infidels as well as Christians. Because of the different opinions of mortal mind, it is of special importance for those interested in Christian Science to understand the true meaning of these words. If individuals fail to understand that the Divine Principle, or God, is ever-present, they will voluntarily enter the broad way that leads to destruction; for disregard of Divine Principle will allow its opposite (error) to come between them and God, the only real power in existence.
The only true way is the narrow and strait, where the Divine Principle of Truth is always near; for God must be so near (in thought) that error has no chance to come between us and our Creator; and our thoughts should be so occupied with Truth, that mortal mind would lose its reality to us.
