The dedication of our Leader's munificent gift to First...

From the August 1904 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The dedication of our Leader's munificent gift to First Church of Christ, Scientist, in her home city, was an event of great importance to our Cause, and it brought together in Concord a large number of Christian Scientists from all parts of the United States, as well as some from foreign lands, their desire being to pay their tribute of love and loyalty to Mrs. Eddy, to whom they are so deeply indebted. Assembled for this purpose, it is not surprising that they received much more than they had expected.

Our 'Leader's Dedicatory Address, read on this occasion, is already recognized as one of her greatest writings, and all those who enjoyed the privilege of hearing it feel that they have indeed received a blessing. The masterly handling of the question, "Is there a hell?" places the belief of sin upon its proper basis, and makes mortals masters of their fate through righteous living.

The profound Christianity of this address, its plea for the daily and hourly living of the Golden Rule and for obedience to the commandments of God, will turn mortals from their wicked ways and save the race.
