Nine years ago Christian Science was brought to our attention by a dear friend who through its teachings had been healed of the morphine habit. At that time my husband was suffering with paralytic and I with so-called rheumatic trouble. We hesitated a long time before trying this new remedy, but having exhausted all other means of help we finally decided to try it. I was the first to take treatment, and was healed in one week. For months my knees had been very stiff and lame, and walking was accomplished with great pain and difficulty. My husband was encouraged by my healing to begin treatment, and to our joy and amazement he, too, was healed. His testimony was given in the January, 1906, Christian Science Journal. Soon after these proofs that "the medicine of Science is divine Mind" (Science and Health, p. 104), and that it is efficacious where human resources utterly fail, we, desiring to worship one God. severed our connection with the orthodox church of which we had long been members, and joined the local Christian Science church, also The Mother Church, in Boston. We find that the spiritual uplift of the truth as taught and demonstrated in Christian Science enables us to rise above the every-day claims of matter, and to help each other and those with whom we are brought in contact.
Some months ago I was suddenly taken very ill, and my case was immediately placed under Christian Science treatment. My trouble was of the nature of an abnormal growth. Then began the battle between Truth and error. At times my sufferings were intense, and the conditions often seemed most alarming, until the needed help came from the "great Physician," God, after which my return to health and strength was rapid. To-day I am a perfectly well woman. I am very grateful to God for Christian Science, and for the noble and inspiring example of its Discoverer and Founder, Mrs. Eddy, who has been the channel through which the healing truth that has helped us over many rough and difficult places has been brought to this age.— Utica, N.
