Four years ago I was confined to my home, having been obliged to give up work entirely, as I was suffering from lung trouble in an advanced stage. By the advice of my physician I consulted a noted specialist in Boston, who at the time was head of the examination board of a sanitarium for such cases as mine. He told me that I was only one of hundreds who came to him in that advanced stage of the disease, when there was no hope of cure. For several weeks longer I remained in (lie same condition, until the warmer weather of early spring gave me a little strength and I decided to try camping out. I pitched a small tent on the shore of a New Hampshire lake, and found after a month that while the change enabled me to get around a little more, there was no material improvement in my health.
At this time I made the acquaintance of two Christian Scientists who had a cottage near my camp. From them I learned that Christian Science had cured cases like mine, and I became interested and asked for treatment, In four weeks the cough which had troubled me for three years disappeared, 'and my strength came back so that I had no difficulty in sharing in all the pleasures of my friends, even to that 'of several excursions up a neighboring mountain. In the fall I came back to Boston and resumed work, having fully recovered my health, the attacks of catarrhal trouble and hay-fever from which I had formerly suffered also having disappeared. I have since been examined by a physician, who pronounced my lungs to be in perfect condition, showing no trace of tubercular disease.
