Testimonies of Healing

It seems as though I could never give in the measure...

From the April 1910 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It seems as though I could never give in the measure given to me, for surely mine has been full to overflowing; but I feel that I can at least make use of every opportunity to send forth the word of Truth, and express my gratitude for the priceless gift of Christian Science. After about ten years of ill health, being part of the time seriously affected, although benefited and relieved at times by materia medica and other methods to which I resorted, still I was not healed — I was still seeking for something to make me well.

In October, 1904, the Christian Science text-book, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was lent to me, and I knew at once that the way to health was open. Although in what I considered at that time a fair condition physically, I was in bondage to a set of health laws in order to keep so, and I lived in constant fear of the consequences of disregarditig them. As I read along in Science and Health these laws were one by one forgotten or broken, but my health steadily improved, and the fear disappeared. In less than two months, an elastic stocking, which I had worn for four years and considered necessary for the rest of my life, was removed, and later thrown away, with all other material remedies. In January, 1905, the study of the Lesson Sermons was begun, and with the help of a practitioner glasses, worn since I was the age of seven, for a condition termed organic and incurable, were laid aside, and I have found that man's sight comes from God and needs no other aid. As time went on, many of the old troubles just faded away, while others had to be met and overcome with the knowledge of this truth as explained in Science and Health.

A little more than two years ago "the valley of the shadow of death" was passed through, but God was with me, and when again, according to the laws of materia medica, a life of ill health with its attendant fears was all that could be expected, my friends were greatly surprised at my rapid recovery, for with the help of a faithful practitioner I was able to prove that "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." I was also able to realize the truth of that beautiful assurance in Science and Health (p. 494), '"Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
