In our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our dear Leader has written these beautiful words: "Whatever blesses one blesses all" (p. 206). I would like to give the following testimony with the wish that it may bring comfort to some one, and give him confidence in the power of divine Love.
Some time ago I had some work to do in the household to which I was not used, and shortly after I was taken very ill. I was able to overcome severe pain in my back by reading Science and Health, but the other troubles seemed to grow worse, as fear crept in. I therefore decided a few days later to go to a Christian Science practitioner. During the treatment the spells of giddiness disappeared, as well as the fever, and the appetite returned immediately. This experience gave me occasion to experience God's omnipotence as unchangeable, ever-present Love, and the impotence and nothingness of disease. I began to understand that we are not subject to material laws, neither do we need to suffer from them while fulfilling our duties; that the law of Spirit gives strength and health at all times and under all circumstances.
Through Christian Science treatments and the study of this Science I have been healed also of a hereditary tendency to cold, which was my greatest worry, as I had been afflicted with it for years during summer and winter. I cannot be grateful enough for the physical blessing, and as to the spiritual, — the rising step by step from a blind faith to a Christianly scientific understanding of the truth which can be applied mentally, — words are inadequate to express my gratitude; a faithful and honest striving toward good alone can do this. The more I apply the teachings of Christian Science in daily living, the greater becomes my love and gratitude to God for our faithful and unselfish Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has illumined our dear old Bible through our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and has made its teachings comprehensive and practical in their application.
