I give this testimony out of thankfulness to God for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science, and also in gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, who prepared herself through years of study of the Bible to be the bearer of the glorious message embodied in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
In January, 1909, I contracted a severe cold, which resulted in acute lung trouble. On the third day my friends became so alarmed that a Christian Science practitioner was called in. I was delirious from fever and did not recognize any one around me. The practitioner remained all night on his first visit, as I was so very ill. The following day I got out of bed and dressed. Then I went into the next room, where I ate my dinner and enjoyed it, as I had not taken any food for several days. I continued daily treatments for two weeks in my own home ; after that I was able to go to the practitioner's office. In three weeks I was entirely healed.
About ten months later deafness and a buzzing noise in my head and ear set in, causing me annoyance and sleepless nights. The noise in my head was always worse at night, and when I went to bed I was obliged to have extra pillows under my head in order to get any rest. Again I called for a practitioner, but in this case my improvement was slow. I had treatments for over a year, but I never got discouraged; I knew the healing would come. My hearing suddenly returned in a moment.
