For some time I have felt that in recognition of the help which Christian Science has brought to me, I should tell my experience of the past two years. In the spring of 1915 a condition arose which involved my comrade in business and myself without our knowledge in a spurious contract which threatened financial ruin and loss of reputation. Owing to my distress of mind it also affected me physically. We had been interested in the beautiful lives of some Christian Science neighbors, so that when one of them offered assistance through Christian Science I accepted, more from courtesy than from any confidence in the result. The trouble mentioned began in May and the contract was to involve us for two years; but in October the contract was in our hands, the persons who had held it were off our property, and we were free, at much less material loss than was expected.
My health had been very delicate from childhood; supposedly hereditary and chronic ailments which had been pronounced incurable by many physicians, rendered my life a burden and greatly crippled my activity in my profession. No aid was received from physicians, and I had no confidence in their methods or diagnoses. Seeing what had been accomplished in our business trouble I asked my Christian Science friend, who was a young practitioner, to treat me for the physical condition, and as a result my recovery is now complete. I am in splendid health, walk miles without fatigue, suffer neither pain nor weakness, eat what I choose, work hard, and am in every way normal and vigorous.
The harmony and peace of mind which have been in my life since studying Christian Science are even more precious than the breaking of the chains of physical suffering, for while serious obstacles seem to arise at times, I now neither fear nor believe in them, for I know that they will be overcome when I understand the truth with sufficient clearness.
