Christian Science came to me in an hour of greatest need, and has been a constant help ever since. I have never known it fail to heal when its teachings were faithfully practiced; and this testimony is sent in deep gratitude for all that it has done for me.
I lived in a home where for years one member of the family had been an invalid, and my prayers to God for that dear one's recovery were all in vain. At last, feeling very sad, I acknowledged to myself that a God who was all—powerful and yet would not hear the agonized prayers for healing was not a God of love, as I had been taught: in fact I began to question with myself if there really was a God at all. I was most unhappy, but at a time when this dear one seemed to be passing on, Christian Science was lovingly presented to me. I borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and after reading if for a few days became convinced that God did not send sickness and did not know of it, and to my joy found that I had not lost the God who is Love after all. It was a most wonderful experience, and if I had never received any other benefit from Christian Science, this alone would have been cause for unbounded gratitude.
Since that time, now nearly six years ago, I have relied on Christian Science for every need. When this truth came to me I was suffering from gastric trouble, at times was unable to take solid food, and was often laid up for weeks together. A Christian Science practitioner treated me for about a year, and at the end of that time the healing came. I feel sure it would have come sooner if I could have risen above the intense fear of the illness. I was also healed of very bad bilious attacks, the healing coming gently, and indeed unnoticed until some time had elapsed, simply through my study of the textbook. There have been other minor healings, one of them instantaneous, when a severe pain in my back, which for two days and nights defied my own work, yielded at once to treatment.
