In the fall of 1893 I was healed of an organic trouble through Christian Science. At that time my father was very heavily involved financially, and it looked as if the prediction that he would die a pauper was about to come true. After coming into Christian Science we all learn that evil thought has no power. Although efforts which had been made to ruin my father financially had about undermined his former business sagacity, when Christian Science came to our rescue I was through its benefits led out to a mine my father was interested in, and by means of my four years' work there achieved results whereby he was very much relieved financially. I could write on and relate many experiences of God's loving protection to me and to others while I was at this mine. One such experience was when a plank gave way under my feet, and I fell from the top of a forty-foot perpendicular upraise, alighting at the bottom without the slightest injury.
Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 372), "In Christian Science, a denial of Truth is fatal, while a just acknowledgment of Truth and of what it has done for us is an effectual help." For the healing and protection recorded above, and the many blessings which have come to me from the study and application of Christian Science, besides the help received from Christian Science practitioners, also for class instruction, I wish to express my gratitude.
