For five years I suffered from heart disease, which was pronounced chronic by several doctors; they all said I might live a long time, but must avoid all excitement. I suffered greatly in breathing, and the left side was much swollen. After three operations my condition grew so much worse that I would faint as soon as I got to bed. There was also incipient paralysis of the left side. It would be impossible to state all the remedies I took. I tried several different kinds of treatment, but all these means were of no use to me. Finally it was recommended that I should read the Bible, especially the New Testament, and while reading I would say to myself each day that Jesus would have healed me. Two years before this I had heard Christian Science mentioned but had not become interested in it. As a last resort I wrote to a practitioner, and in four treatments was healed.
I cannot express all the good that I have received through the understanding of this beautiful truth that God is the creator of good only and that Jesus demonstrated this in destroying sickness. I am thankful to God because He has, first through Christ Jesus, and in our age through Mrs. Eddy, made known to mankind the truth which destroys all evil and reforms the sinner. I must also express my gratitude to the Christian Science friends in America for the help they are sending to those in Europe who are suffering on account of the war.
