Two years ago, when our youngest son was about three weeks old, we had a severe hailstorm in our vicinity, which broke several large windows in our house, letting in great gusts of wind and rain. The next night I was stricken with a gathering in my breast. I was almost delirious with the pain and fever. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and treatment was lovingly given. I was assured of God's ever-presence and that I need feel no pain. To my great joy I found that it was so; and the baby slept happily and peacefully, with no thought of fear to disturb him. Within a few hours I was free from all manifestations of the trouble. It was a wonderful demonstration of the healing power of Truth. This baby has never had anything but Christian Science treatment for all difficulties which have intruded themselves upon our thought. Croup, colds, and stomach disorders have been quickly healed.
One healing I wish to speak of especially. It occurred quite recently, when the baby had erysipelas, followed by a brain complication and convulsions. Help was asked of the same dear friend; and when she arrived the baby was lying in a stupor from which we could not awaken him. After quieting our fears, she said I should wake him up and give him nourishment. He awakened quickly, ate his supper, and slept all night—a sound, natural sleep. In a couple of days all swelling and discoloration had left, and he was normal in every way.
Another little son had a beautiful healing of a badly cut hand. I ran to the telephone and called for help in Science, as it was bleeding so profusely I was frightened. Within a few minutes the blood had ceased flowing. I bandaged his hand to keep it clean; and when I removed the bandage the next day the hand was found to be perfectly healed. At another time my husband experienced an accident while cutting wood, the thumb of his left hand being badly injured. He thought the bone was crushed. Before I called for help he was suffering intense pain. Only a few minutes after receiving treatment, he was free from pain; and he did not lose an hour in performing his usual duties, which included work that called for the use of both hands.
