When the thought came to me to send an expression of gratitude to the Christian Science periodicals, it was quickly followed by the suggestion to wait until I had had a wonderful healing in Christian Science. Then I thought, What could be more wonderful than the way I have been protected ever since I took up this study?
From the time I was six months old, when I had a very serious illness, until I came into Science many years ago, I was never free from the fear of having some of the physical troubles to which I was subject. I would seem to be getting strong and well, and able to do anything I needed to do, when I would again get tired or nervous and have to go to bed, passing through a long, tiresome illness. Among other things that seemed wrong with me was a weak heart; and if I got too tired, or was bothered about anything, it always meant a sick spell. We had spent hundreds of dollars on doctors and medicine; but after I started to study Christian Science, I never had a single return of any one of these things: they were just wiped out. I have had a few slight illnesses to overcome, such as headache, colds, and burns, but they have all been very quickly met. I have never spent a whole day in bed in all the years I have been interested in Christian Science; before that time, I spent days and days in bed with all kinds of sickness.
Of course I am grateful for this freedom; but I am much more grateful for the better understanding of God, and for a better outlook on life. It used to take only a little disappointment to make me very unhappy; but now, since learning what real happiness is, I am never worried or despondent. Christian Science means everything to me; and I could not do without it.—Kansas City, Mo.
