ON page vii of the Preface to the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "The time for thinkers has come." The Christian Scientist is learning something of the great work that is being accomplished by right thinkers. He knows that the only thoughts which are worth while, which can bring forth enduring results, which bless and help mankind and build for eternity, are those which emanate from God, the only Mind.
In the universe of spiritual ideas man is God's representative. The image and likeness of his creator, he exists to manifest, as reflection, the inexhaustible treasures of divinity, those qualities of priceless worth ceaselessly issuing from the eternal source. Goodness, purity, happiness, and love are his constant companions. In accordance with the spirit of the Beatitudes, the right thinker inherits heaven and earth. He realizes that in order to catch the sweet harmonies of eternal verities, he must dwell at the standpoint of consecration to good, in the sanctuary of uplifted meditation; and thus, in increasing measure, he grasps and attains the blessings bestowed forever on man by his heavenly Father.
The thinkers of every age have left as a living reality the outcome of the high and holy thoughts which came to them in silent communion with God. "Their works do follow them," we read in Revelation. Beyond the reach of malice, persecution, and hate, thought which has won its way to demonstration and accomplishment is indestructible and permanent. Amid difficulties, trials, overwhelming discouragements and obstructions, the right thinker wins through. Never weary of upholding the real and true through the darkest night, he presses on; and as surely as God lives and reigns, he attains his goal.
