Twenty-nine years ago in September, Christian Science was brought to my notice by the healing of a much-loved member of our family. I was so grateful for this healing that I desired to know how it had been accomplished. Accordingly, I began the study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; and the following January at the communion service during the silent prayer I prayed that if the Christian Science teaching about God, Christ Jesus, and man was right, I might have the witness of the Spirit. In answer to this prayer such quiet assurance filled my thought that I realized the fulfillment of the beatitude, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Since that time Christian Science has been our only physician in a family of five, our comfort in sorrow, and our supply. All my life I desired a well-defined daily Bible reading, and our Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lessons have most abundantly met that need. So many times I have proved by seeking "first the kingdom of God," by reading the entire lesson every morning and applying the truth contained therein, harmony has prevailed in my home and my affairs for each day.
Under Christian Science treatment whooping cough was overcome in three weeks; and although we were in a house with several other children, no contagion but that of good was manifest. Chicken pox was overcome in one night by mother and little daughter both claiming the promise, "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them," and singing and holding to the truth, as expressed in our Hymnal:
"In atmosphere of love divine,
We live, and move, and breathe."
