GOD'S perfect law is expressed in His activities. Creation is the effect of perfect cause,—God. We read in Genesis, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." And every idea or effect of this perfect cause is therefore maintained in its perfection by God in accordance with His law.
If, then, as individuals, we desire to bring ourselves into agreement with this perfect law of God, we must first acknowledge that God and His creation are perfect. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy states (p. 259), "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration." It is vitally necessary, then, that we assert positively man's sonship with his Father-Mother God, even as did John when he wrote: "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God." Because man coexists with God, we, His children, should know that perfect Principle, operating through perfect law, will adjust every difficulty; will guide and lead our every footstep, as we progress in understanding from sense to Soul; will destroy all human ambitions for mortal power and position; will rule out of us all evil thoughts as we condemn them in our hearts; and will govern us entirely in our protestations of truth, as we admit man's relationship to his Father-Mother, God, and his perfection as the image and likeness of God.
If we are to realize the truth of man's unity with the law of God,— the spiritual and perfect law of God, —then we must deny the belief that any other law exists. There are not two systems of law, the one good, the other evil. Spiritual law is the perfect law of immortal Truth; material law is a counterfeit, imperfect, and of human invention. Spiritual law is everlasting, without beginning or ending; material law is changeable and variable, conforming with so-called material conditions. Spiritual law is the activity of God; and men reflect this activity when they think correctly, reason scientifically, and worship spiritually,—as they express or manifest Life, Truth, and Love, the divine Principle of being.
