For many years I had throat trouble,...

From the November 1926 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For many years I had throat trouble, which was a barrier to my work as a teacher. Many times I had to be out of school for a week or two owing to this trouble. After I took up the study of Christian Science, as revealed by our loved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and had treatment from a faithful practitioner for other ailments, the throat trouble disappeared; and for a year or two I forgot about it. Then it dawned on my thought that I was free from this disturbance. In two weeks' treatment I was healed of an excruciating case of inflammatory rheumatism through the devoted help of a practitioner. The healing has been permanent.

For these healings I am most grateful. I also appreciate the healing of the desire to read spurious literature. When this awakening came to me through a testimony which I read in the Christian Science Sentinel, I burned all the offensive literature I had in my library, and immediately the way opened for me to have class instruction, which before had seemed impossible, owing to financial conditions and opposition in the home. On page 464 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says: "Adulterating Christian Science, makes it void. Falsity has no foundation;" and in Colossians we read, "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

I am grateful for all the activities of Christian Science which God has given to this age, and especially for the cleansing influence of The Christian Science Monitor in a needy world.—
