It is with deepest gratitude to God that I give this testimony of the healing, uplifting power of Christian Science in my life. When I asked for help in Christian Science in the spring of 1912, I was healed of a severe nervous breakdown, chronic constipation, and rheumatism. The condition was one of great weakness. In two weeks I was enabled to take up my heavy work in a railroad office. A short time after I resumed my work, severe inflammation of the eyes manifested itself. I could raise the lids only halfway. Treatment was lovingly taken up by the practitioner, and the difficulty was completely met. The fact that I was enabled to attend to my work without missing a day during this time was a direct proof to me of the power and protection of Truth.
I cannot express the great good that Christian Science has brought to me—the courage, the hope, and the changed mental outlook. At the time of this first healing it seemed as though I really did not have much to live for. I soon found in Christian Science that I had a God and a Bible, as well as something to live for—all of which had been apparently missing from my life before. Each year since has brought me an ever increasing unfoldment of this great promise.
I have been healed of severe eczema on the side of my head and of a tumor on the eyelid. By divine wisdom I was led to do my own work in gaining a realization of the nothingness of these two difficulties. It was a number of months in each case before the complete healing was realized; but I am deeply grateful for the spiritual strength and light that came to me during this time. In the case of the tumor I am so grateful for the overcoming of a great sense of fear, even though the manifestation appeared to be just as much in evidence as before. When this fear was overcome, a sense of weight and burden was lifted from my consciousness and replaced by a greater sense of freedom. The tumor vanished; I did not know just when.
