Testimonies of Healing

I am grateful to have found the...

From the May 1926 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am grateful to have found the God of love instead of a God of vengeance. When a child, I was sick and afflicted the greater part of the time; and as my parents were devout members of a so-called orthodox church, I was taught a great deal about God. When I asked if God was good, I was assured He was; but on the other hand I was also told that it was through His will that I was sick and suffering. As years passed and I became more capable of thinking for myself, I found that there were many promises of God's help in the Bible; but I never found a church that had worked out the Science of Christianity until I found the Christian Science church.

Since becoming interested in Christian Science, I have had many proofs of God's care. The first healing to occur in my family was when our eldest child was in her second summer and was a victim of colitis and whooping cough. The doctors said that the only chance she had would depend on her vitality. Then we turned to Christian Science for help, and she was completely healed in two days. Since that time we have had two other children. The birth of the last one was a demonstration of the efficacy of Christian Science, as it was speedy and painless. We have reared all three children with the aid of Christian Science. When I recall my own childhood, I can find no way of expressing the comparison of living with and living without Christian Science. We have had to prove many times this healing power in many ways. Typhoid fever, pneumonia, measles, influenza, also cases that had been pronounced incurable without a surgical operation, have been healed. These have all been met in a short period of time.

I can also express gratitude for the courage Christian Science has given to me. as well as to the world in general. My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her consecrated work in solving this Science of Christianity is beyond expression. I am grateful for the benefits of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; for the great privilege of class instruction; and for the silent missionaries, in the form of our periodicals, which have so often led people to study the Bible as well as all of Mrs. Eddy's writings.
