Testimonies of Healing

It is impossible for me to convey...

From the May 1926 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is impossible for me to convey in words the depth of my gratitude for Christian Science, through the study of which I have learned what John meant when he said, "God is love." I did not seek Christian Science because of any physical need. I had been silently calling for an explanation of life, as I had drifted into an unhealthy mental state which produced loneliness and unhappiness. This desire was answered by learning one day that a friend was a Christian Scientist. Then I realized that I had been trying to analyze the reason for the happiness of this friend, who had a most unfortunate condition in her home. So I asked, "What is Christian Science?" And the answer has been more blessings than I can relate.

Through this study my life has been entirely changed. It has involved a complete revision of values. Instead of believing people and the world to be all wrong, I had to learn that correcting and perfecting needed to take place in my own thinking, and to see man as revealed in the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as God's image and likeness.

During the past eight years I have had many beautiful healings. Some have been instantaneous, while others have been slow. I am grateful for all. But those healings which have forced me to cling closer to the realization of our Leader's words, "In Science, divine Love alone governs man" (Church Manual, p. 40), are the ones from which I have derived the greatest spiritual understanding.
