The first healing I experienced in Christian Science was that of a dislocated hip. For days I had suffered almost unbearable pain. This was overcome; and I discarded my cane, without which I had been told I could never get along. This healing was a marvel to all who witnessed it. I realized I had been led to the truth about God and His idea, man; and I have been a strict adherent of Christian Science for the past sixteen years.
About a year ago, while on my way home from our Wednesday evening testimony meeting, the door of our car opened as the fore wheel ran into an out-of-repair place in the street. I was pitched out, falling upon my head. My nephew, who was driving the car, was obliged to carry me into the house. I called a practitioner, who came, and, like Jacob, we "wrestled . . . until the breaking of the day"—until the light of Truth shone once again. In two weeks I was up and in a chair; and in one week more I was doing my housework again. Only one other in my family is interested in Christian Science, and I was urged to call a physician; but I was not tempted in the least to do so, for I knew, as our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
I am endeavoring to show my gratitude to God for revealing His deathless Christ; also for His later revelator, Mary Baker Eddy. I fully realize that gratitude must be lived.
