It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I write this testimony of the healing power of divine Love.
From earliest childhood I was considered very delicate, being seldom free from some form of ailment, and constantly obliged to seek medical aid. When eight years of age I suffered from a severe form of quinsy, and was in the doctor's hands for many weeks. From that time until I took up the study of Christian Science, nineteen years later, I was never free from a recurrence of these attacks, three or four often occurring in one year.
My first healing in Science was of a nervous breakdown, of which I was healed in one treatment by a very loving practitioner. Six months later I had a very severe attack of the old trouble, quinsy, and I at once asked for treatment from the practitioner who had helped me on the occasion of my breakdown. The help was lovingly given, and in three days the condition was entirely overcome. There was no convalescence, and there has been no return of the disease during the eleven years that have intervened. I have always been truly grateful for the work done at that time by the faithful practitioner, also for the loving help and encouragement received from the dear Christian Scientist in whose house I was employed at that time. My heart goes out in deep gratitude to this one who for ten months labored so patiently and lovingly to give me this truth. It must have been patient work, for never once during those months did I show any appreciation of her loving and unselfish efforts. But God was preparing the soil for the seed, as was proved in my refusal to see a doctor, although I was very ill and unable to do any work. It was only after this refusal that I was asked and consented to see a Christian Science practitioner, through whose help I received the healing of the nervous disorder. It was after this healing I was offered and gladly accepted a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; and six months later I bought one myself.
