I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing but for a better understanding of God, although my first healing came almost at once. The doctors and specialists had doomed me to wear glasses always, as they claimed I was born with bad eyes and must carry two pairs of glasses with me. I decided that if Christian Science was the truth I could lay aside my glasses, and the pages of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, would be clear. I took up the book and the page was clear as crystal; but I could not see after. I lifted my eyes from the page. I read for three days at a certain time with my glasses off, and the fourth day I found I had forgotten to put on the glasses all day long. This healing has been permanent, and I see better today than ever before; for I now see objects at a distance, a thing I could not do before. This healing came to me over ten years ago. I have been healed of fainting spells, headache, broken or sprained ankle, and of a severe case of diphtheria and pneumonia in three days. One day I became unconscious in town and was taken to the home of a loving practitioner. The third day I returned to my own home. I have been protected from accident several times. A young piano pupil of mine was taken ill several days before I arrived at his home to give a lesson. On my arrival his mother met me saying he was in bed. I was giving a pupils' piano recital that evening and planned on going with these people, as they had invited me to dinner. I asked the parents to have Science treatment, telling them the sure effects of this truth. They consented, and a practitioner was called. The child came out in fifteen minutes, ate a hearty supper, and played beautifully at the concert. His mother told me afterwards that he kept well and went to school as usual. The doctor had told them to keep him in bed and not let him go to school for at least a week.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and in a branch church. I am so grateful for a better understanding of God, good, the demonstrable divine Principle that never fails when rightly understood and applied.—Wayzata, Minnesota.
