It is about three years since I first took up the study of Mrs. Eddy's textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in conjunction with the Bible, which before had been a closed book to me; and I am very glad to have the privilege of testifying that through the understanding gained in Christian Science I have had many healings, both physical and mental.
My acceptance of the truths taught in Mrs. Eddy's writings must have come unconsciously while reading aloud the Christian Science textbook to an invalid who had requested me to do so; for, afterwards, when a physical disorder appeared on my person, I immediately turned away from all thought of a material remedy, and sought the help lovingly given through a Christian Science practitioner, who then and since has kindly guided me in the application of the truth, as taught by Christ Jesus and reaffirmed by Mrs. Eddy.
There have been many physical healings within our home since its members accepted Christian Science, each healing revealing to us more and more of the power of divine Love, as we understand God, the omnipotent, our ever present Helper in time of trouble. I have been healed of an abscess, acute indigestion, headaches, constipation, a cyst, mild hemorrhoids, and many other ills, as well as of the desire to smoke. I have been divinely protected, time and time again, from injury and disease when, according to old beliefs, I might have "expected the worst." Each temptation to deny God by giving power to evil or erroneous thoughts has been overcome, however, and I now feel certain that these temptations can no longer touch my conviction that in Christian Science I have truly found God and the kingdom of heaven which Jesus said "is within you."
