I wish to express my gratitude for all the good that has come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. I have been interested in this religion for many years, and during that time have depended solely on it to solve my every problem, and it has never failed.
I have had many experiences of physical healing, and many proofs of God's loving care and protection. One such instance I should like to relate. As I entered an unfamiliar room one day, a young lady opened a door and directed me to hang my hat in what I supposed was a closet; but it proved to be a narrow flight of about twenty steps, with an open balustrade on one side and a brick wall on the other, leading to the basement of the building. It was very dark, and I turned and took a step sideways as I reached for a hook on the wall. As I fell I immediately realized God's presence; and although I fell the entire length of the flight, I felt no fear. The young lady's screams, as she saw me fall, brought others, but by the time they reached me I had arisen and assured them I was all right. One arm was skinned, and there was a slight discoloration under one eye. There were also a few bruises; but I kept about my duties all day, and did not feel stiff or lame afterwards.
It is indeed a joy to know that we have a practical daily help with which to meet and overcome any inharmony that tries to present itself. It is the truth about God and man which frees us. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 481): "Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing else. God's being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss;" and on page 470, "Man is the expression of God's being."
