In 1926, while on a visit to Hamburg, at a time when I was very much downcast, I first heard of Christian Science. A dear friend who had been very quickly healed of serious stomach trouble gave me a few copies of Der Herold, which I read with great interest. Then I attended some of the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, and felt that I should like to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. At that time I had broken down mentally and physically. I was very nervous, and was supposed to have inherited lung trouble from my father. I consulted a doctor frequently, but did not get well. I also suffered for a long period from a very painful bladder trouble, but none of the remedies applied brought me any relief.
Through the loving work of a Christian Science practitioner I was freed from pain after the first treatment; and how joyfully and happily I set out on my homeward journey! A new world had opened up to me, a world more beautiful than I had hitherto known. Through the further help of the practitioner, and my own growing understanding, all that was inharmonious disappeared, and today I am joyous and healthy and happy. I was also healed of hemorrhoids at the same time. I am inexpressibly grateful to God for all this beautiful healing and for the "power from on high." I think of our dear Leader with great reverence, and am sincerely grateful for the loving help of the practitioner and for the dear friends who showed me the way to Truth.— Hamburg, Germany.
