It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I testify to the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science. I can say, because of the knowledge I have gained of God through the study of Christian Science, that "I know that my redeemer liveth;" and because He lives I am learning how to live. The practicality of the ever operative and unerring law of God, good, when strictly adhered to, is being revealed more and more to me in the experiences of everyday life. Nine years ago I was a wanderer in the desert of human beliefs, seeking to live in accordance with the teachings of Christianity as interpreted through the Church of England. The theories were beautiful, but I found the practice of them all but impossible; and what was more, as I grew older I found that one was not really expected to put them into practice. I was told that God is Love and that prayer is answered. It was, however, a corporeal, far-off God to whom I looked for help; but Christian Science has given me a God near at hand, all-loving and all-satisfying.
When Christian Science was first introduced to me, and I read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I felt that here I should find the solution of every problem, and I seemed to have many; so I set earnestly to work to learn as much about Christian Science as I could. Gradually, as I studied and faithfully tried to put into practice what I understood, conditions grew better, although the process did not always seem to be joyous, and more than once I had to learn obedience, humility, and wisdom by retracing my steps and apparently beginning all over again.
From a child I had not been considered very strong, and was always resorting to material remedies in order to gain and maintain physical strength. Christian Science has completely healed me of biliousness. One morning several years ago I woke with all the symptoms of a bad attack. At first I was rather discouraged, but immediately knew the truth about the matter, namely, that I was God's perfect child, and that error was nothing. I rose, dressed as usual, and then read the LessonSermon for that week. I was so completely interested in the reading that I forgot the error. About a quarter of an hour afterwards on going downstairs I found myself perfectly well. Since that time I have never had a return of the complaint. The healing was complete.
