Over twenty years ago the testimony of the beautiful healing I received in Christian Science after years of complete or semi-invalidism appeared in The Christian Science Journal. Since that time I have been privileged to give many testimonies to the healing power of Truth in our Wednesday evening meetings; and now I should like again to express, through one of our periodicals, my heartfelt gratitude for all that Christian Science has done and is doing for me and for all mankind.
When I first read our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, my thought was so steeped in materiality that there was very little I was able to understand; but there was one passage that strongly appealed to me, and the truth of which I was forced to admit. Beginning on page 259 of Science and Health, our Leader says, "Deducing one's conclusions as to man from imperfection instead of perfection, one can no more arrive at the true conception or understanding of man, and make himself like it, than the sculptor can perfect his outlines from an imperfect model, or the painter can depict the form and face of Jesus, while holding in thought the character of Judas." I realized that I must change my thought-models in order to bring into my experience health and strength where disease and weakness had so long seemed to reign . Little by little the "dark images of mortal thought" (ibid., p. 418), expressed as crippled joints, hereditary asthma, chronic bronchitis, and many other erroneous conditions that had defied all that human love and human skill could devise for their amelioration, vanished before the light of Truth.
Is it any wonder that I am deeply grateful to God, the Giver of all good, and to His two witnesses, Christ Jesus and our beloved Leader?—London, England.
