Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German]

Since childhood I had suffered...

From the September 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Since childhood I had suffered almost uninterruptedly from severe chronic colds, as well as from hereditary stomach and heart trouble. According to the doctors' diagnoses these colds had resulted in an abdominal complaint. My lungs, too, were weak and affected. Doctors and medicine could do nothing for me, and under these conditions my life was useless and I longed to depart from this earth.

In this condition Christian Science found me. I studied the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and later on the Lesson-Sermons, and read the Herolds. I also asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. Every treatment was devout communion with God. Fear gave place to divine Love, and the misery of mortal sense and the pain gradually disappeared from consciousness. For years it was a constant struggle, accompanied with victories and defeats; but like the woman at the time of Jesus, I continued to cry, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David." And so I heard the words of the healing Christ: . "O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt." Sickness, limitation, and shyness fell from me. I recognized that a spiritual idea had never been ill and inharmonious, and learned to understand that God is faithful, good, and true; that He is ever present under all circumstances and conditions of existence. The lie, the belief in minds many, yielded; and faith in the one Mind and its manifestation has taken its place in my consciousness. I was healed.

The grace and privilege were extended to me and to my husband of becoming members of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Our son joyously attends the Sunday school. We apply Christian Science to everything, and are grateful for the many proofs and blessings, and exclaim in the words of the Psalmist, "Bless the Lord, 0 my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
