In 1918 our little daughter, then three years old, was taken ill with tympanitis. At that time my husband did not believe in the healing power of Christian Science; therefore we sent for a doctor, who, after several days of treatment, declared the child must undergo an operation. Then I begged my husband to give his consent to Christian Science treatment, as the operation could thus be avoided. This he did, and I immediately telephoned to a dear practitioner who lovingly gave the child absent treatment.
In a few days the inflammation had completely disappeared. Later on, the doctor emphasized again and again that we should be very grateful for this healing, since in similar severe cases deafness usually had resulted. Our daughter's hearing is perfect, and she never had any further trouble with that ear. Since that time God has been our only physician. This experience encouraged me to seek more earnestly for an understanding of Christian Science and thus come closer to God.
We have had innumerable proofs of the care of our Father-Mother God, and are deeply indebted to Him. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and for class instruction. My desire is to grow more and more in understanding, so that I may entertain only such thoughts as will prove a blessing to mankind. I think of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who has again unlocked the way to the Christ, Truth, with great reverence.— Greifswald, Germany.
