ITEMS OF INTEREST

From the November 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Rumors current in certain sections of the Field to the effect that a large proportion of the building fund for the new Publishing House has already been contributed and is in the hands of the Treasurer of The Mother Church are without foundation. A similar erroneous report went abroad when in 1904 the building fund for The Mother Church Extension was open to contributions. The editorial correcting the impression is to be found on page 14 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany."

All legal obstruction to the building of the new Publishing House has now been cleared away, and the work will proceed as rapidly as possible. Borings have been made to determine the nature of the soil and the kind of foundation on which the building will stand. As already announced, the detailed specifications and plans are well-nigh completed; the general contractor has been selected; and in the not far-distant future the buildings now on the site where the Publishing House building is to be located will be razed. Therefore the need of funds is immediate.

Christian Science churches and societies, as well as individuals, are heartily supporting and should continue to support this necessary building project. From time to time this column will announce the development and progress of the undertaking.
