THE RAINBOW

From the November 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Across the heavens' endless space
The rainbow arch of promise comes,
Encompassing, complete, and comforting.
Rimmed with the red of vibrant love
It glows through orange into golden joy,
And on through green of pure, unfolding life
Into the blue of constancy and peace
That fuses into royal violet.
The colors stand, as if God's promise,
Formed in endless light,
For some short interval reveals its elements
To reassure the yearning hearts of men
And melts again into the oneness of infinity.
For so the rainbow of His constancy
And life and joy and love
Forever spans the heaven of our eternity.
